Trans Scribe is a site for general discussion, articles, and posts about trans issues. It grew out of Mercia’s Musings, which is now purely a site for Mercia McMahon’s personal reflections about life in general. Mercia McMahon and Trans Scribe both began life as Second Life avatars and you can still IM them on that platform. Warning to hate commenters: your posts will not necessarily be deleted!
Trans on this site is interpreted to refer to all whose gender presentation does not fit in with societal norms, modelled on the Scottish Trangender Alliance’s trans umbrella, which includes “transsexual men, transsexual women, inter-sexed people, androgyne and polygender people, and cross-dressing and transgender people.” However, as the author is a transwoman, the focus will be in that direction, but without ignoring issues facing transmen.
Trans Scribe is the pen name of Mercia McMahon, who was known until July 2008 as Rev Dr Mark Walker, an Anglican priest and theologian.
